Tech 1 to Tech 2 Steering Wheel
Moderator: martauto
afternoon zoners,
I am looking to change my standard steering wheel which is the Tech 1 which came with the car from factory.
Its slim and well feels as if hough I have a steering wheel of a London bus.
A friend of mine has the Tech 2 steering wheel which looks and feels better to me. I took his 325 for a quick spin and seriously it feels so much more better. I understand its no only the steering wheel which makes it feel better but also the extra ponies under the hood with the added weight. If im honest it feels far better then my 4 pot m42b18.
I understand they come in 2 sizes but don know which one to get. My friend mentioned he had the smaller size out the 2 sizes.
after driving my friends 325 e30 and e46 i must admit that they both feel much beter then mine.
Having recently driven the e46 325 sport the wheel feels thick and chunky in turn which makes the whole drive feel that much better.
I am aware that the e46 wheel will some what look out of place in the old girl however the e0 tech 2 wheel will look and feel good.
which size is most desirable and why ?
which size should i be looking to get ?
how much do they cost ?
apart from the bmw steering wheels i have also looked at the momo millennium evo sport style which feels a far bit more chunkier hen my tech 1
is there any pictures here people can post up of the tech 2 and momo .... which 1 to g for my hearts set on tech 2 e30 original.
Thanks in advanced
Jono

No idea if the e46 wheel will fit (I very much doubt it..) but bear in mind it is much chunkier than the tech2 e30 wheel.
Go for the smaller diameter if you can 375mm I think but that's £80-150 for 2nd hand. You can get smaller diameter such as some of the Alpina ones but very rare.
Can't help you with momo though.

That's a lovely wheel !
Jon, are you sure your Tech 1 is not a 385 ? Most are.
theres only 15mm difference so they wouldnt look any different, but in "steering feel" and thigh room, the difference seems a lot biggerjon-m42 wrote:is this is the smallest size it comes in just looking at t seems as if it is the same size as my tech 1 ?
both 370mml versions are super to use, tech 2 only looks/feels right in facelift cars really
Thank you guys looks as if though I will be in the market for a 370mm Mtech 2 steering wheel for the old girl.
Any suggestions to where to look o hunt this down?
Ebay, gymtree and or any actual companies in the uk who still sell these ? (im guessing no companies sock these any more)

1 recently went on eBay for £240 iirc so look to budget around that price.
Gone are the days these could be had for under £130 for mint ones.

When I bought mine it was only 200 and odd I am sure (250 rings a bell but I could be wrong...it was quite a few years ago).iDreamBeemer wrote:Rav335uk wrote:
