shells big and mains £300. Crank regrind if needed is about £10 per journal. piston rings £180.

Block rebore usually £30 per bore. If you sleeve it they're £30 per bore normally. Or a price of glaze bust re hone. Plus labour plus a set of pistons.

oil pump, a lot are worn now, BMW only and about £170

Rockers? BMW only now I think lets say good old days of GSF/euros supplying so about £12 each, new cam? I want a schrick please that's £450.

Head reface £50 about going rate. Guides? they're about £6 each depends on how many? but you will be doing 6 at least. Labour to fit. Valves mushroomed at the top is very likely so you can count a few of them and the price. did we mention head work?

Headgasket set + head bolts. Cambelt, sensors water pump

Unlike yourself Rav I've actually rebuilt M20's yes ones gone bang but I've done it. Paid for it and built them myself.

Do you want me to add it all up see how close it is to £2000? You can't get much for M20's these days outside of BMW as they're so old now.

I fancy a nice exhaust manifold for my M20 can you recommend one Chav?

£6.80 each actually for FEBI , if you bothered to find out the correct price instead of spouting shit.

Polsta hasn't asked for an upgrade on the engine, so that can be left out.

And that is without buying Piston compressors and other

Polsta is loading the donkey into the back of his strangerover as we type, the statnav has been programmed with the postcode of the cheapest transit specialists in solihull (thats where rav will be) a brief stop at the atm (ooer) for a withdrawal of £50 in hard cash and he will have the best M20 ever known to man and change for the first monthly payment towards his AA membership

You mean you lot are surprised Polsta has asked a question, got heap loads of great advise and still chosen to go his own route!?

Rav, if you can get M20 FEBI rockers at that price get them bought. Took me ages to find somewhere that had any stock last year and that was NOS and they certainly weren't anything like £6.80 each. ECP weren't able to get anymore from FEBI as they told them they weren't making them anymore

sorry mate sounds like your engine is scrap, drop it off at the bridge and buy another engine, I don't care what anyone says it wont make any difference to the price of your car having another engine fitted, this your cheapest option but if you have a spare 2k to do a PROPER rebuild and not a budget one go for it.

do I need bother replying? I will because liars make me angry. I'll admit my prices are probably within a 10% tolerance and were all off the top of my head.

I hate it when you state facts for the benefit of everyone and someone lies to try and "win"

Rav's never been to a machine shop then, i'm still waiting to hear about some engine building experience and real parts prices on M20's to help us all out. Febi rockers have NEVER been £6.20 as this is 2013 not 1995.

Who's trying to "Win" here???
I'm STATING FACTS on prices, not guessing them , like you.

And FEBI M20 rockers as of today from GSF are £7.10 each, so they've gone up sllightly.

You know "Sweet Fook All" wether or not i've ever been to a machine shop, again, spouting shite.

Oh, and my engine building experience will on my thread, and it'll even be "Timed up" correctly, unlike some Expert on here.

My c2 2.7 donk had been rebuilt 20k before I bought it. I decided to refresh it with new bigs, rings, hone, oil pump cogs, full gaskets, head reface and all the other bits you'd do. No major machine work was required. The bill? Just over £1400. That's no regrinds, rebores, pistons or mains!

A full rebuild using genuine parts as above will be the thick end of 2 bags. Yes you can get cheaper parts but cut corners here and you'll pay in the long run. Again! Anyone rebuilding an engine without a new oil pump is speshal needs. Even on mine I knew the pump was good but still replaced the cogs and had the top linished flat.
