i tried to tec 2 my first IS but its a real bastard

you never ever get that snug fit they do from the factory, water always gets trapped behind the wings and doors which will eventually lead to rust

all the fittings cost about 80 quid in total from the dealers then you have the trouble of sourcing an original kit in good condition in your colour unless you wana pay extra for it to get sprayed

imo its not worth it, jsut use a tec 1 or 2 spoiler an some se skirts an lip on an IS much nicer

Im in the process of putting an mtech 1 kit onto my 325i, it is indeed a fiddly bastard of a job. The thing that i didn't appreciate is that you need specific parts in order to attach the kit, ie different rubber bumper end mounts, different rubber strips, different clips etc etc. Unless you get these bits when you buy the kit, you will have all sort of fun tracking them down (or a big spend at bmw). That said they look the nuts with a kit fitted!

painting isnt the problem,,, as i have a friend whos going to be looking at my stone chips/dings/and rust.. just giving my car to him and leting him sort the whole car out ... so if he will do the job and say that itr might be worth respraying for the sake of it with little extra, then might as well wait till i get the kit fitted then sprayed... though... by the sounds of it,, its a bit of a bitch..

argh, decisions decisions...

any rought estamates as to price of the full kit and then all the rubbers clips etc needed?? :)

i say tech 2, its not all that hard to fit, you just need to be carefull and take your time at it. the bumpers are piss easy to fit, the valance is a bit tricky, and then the door pods are piss easy too. the sideskirts are a bit tricky as you need to drill holes but i am sure you can buy a pattern from the dealers.

On a 318iS it has to be a Tech 2.

The 318iS was only available from '90 - '91, the tech 1 kit was not officially fitted then, only fitted to pre face lift cars....

Having just had another thought, the Tech I front and rear valances wouldn't fit a face lift car anyway. And possibly the side skirts wouldn't fit either!

So it's Tech II or nothing, fitting cost? probably take a day to fit, plus the cost of the kit plus painting. Expect to pay Ԛ£800+ all in i would have thought. Costing all abit of guess work really

i think a Alpina front spoiler or "cow catcher" as they call it , is cool , but also a proper hartge kit looks really cool especially the front.

That Hartge kit looks ace!

Bet it's impossible to find one though...

EDIT: Well, you can actually get one form Hartge it would seem. I bet it's impossible to find one for a reasonable price though...
