Any help much appreciated

325i 1990

When I initial start it up it won't rev passed 3k rpm until I unplug the icv then it revs freely, checked the icv and its moving freely so it can't be sticking??? So I'm assuming its just foo bared?? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Cheers

Can't think of any way in which an ICV, 'foo bared' or not, could stop an engine reving above 3000 RPM.
Could prevent it dropping below 3k, possibly, but not the other way around.

Faulty AFM is a possibility, amongst other things. Take it off and test it.
