Ordered an Eberspacher rear silencer of CP4L the other day.

Had queried with Meatballs on here over two different exhausts they supply, one with part number 705112027 and a dearer one with part number 705110557. He said to go for the latter, that it was a better exhaust... so I did.

But having received it yesterday its clearly not going to fit, the shape is wrong all together. It did state on CP4L that it wouldn't fit, yet on ECP website it said that it would fit. So along with Meatballs recommendation I figured it should be fine.

Just sorting this out now and thinking I may go for the cheaper one, but just wanted to check with anyone has an Eberspacher rear silencer fitted and if they have the part number handy.

Many thanks. Sorry I know its a pretty boring post, but wanted to get this all sorted for my MOT which is due at the end of this week.

Oh and this certainly isn't a pop at Meatballs, he's given me great help in the passed which is always appreciated :D

Just to double check my ignorance isn't taking over.. this won't fit??
The box should be oval shape shouldn't and the tail pipes should go off on an angle rather than straight out..?

It sounds good, with a nicely burbly idle - but nothing OTT like my old Peko.
Yours was def Eberspacher, not cheap but top quality.

Bosal is considered fairly good quality in the trade, I used to sell tons of the stuff at a previous factor, can't remember having any warranty issues.

I would say that's an E36 exhaust.

According to the cp4l website...

705110557 is definitely the part number for an E36 325i exhaust.

705112027 is for an E30 325i, and looking at the length given, its probably for a 2 piece system.

@jmc thats how it came up when I checked. Just took the risk hoping it would be right... and got it wrong somewhere along the line.

Part number required is 705110417 dude - this is the same part I sold Morat a while back.

I do :-)
It sounds great and fits well.
Yours is definitely different to mine, and the backbox is a much more complex shape. Stick with it, it'll be worth it in the end!

Thanks everyone for your comments and help. Especially Meatballs, who helped me out getting the right part number.. One of the many helpful and clued up contenders of this site.
