Just a question Manual v Auto for a track car

I wonder if a 328i engine and auto box would be OK as a track car in my e30 or should I stick to a manual. Am I mad for considering it?? Thanks.

yer, my Mrs has a 328i auto, the one you can operate in manual by pulling/pushing the lever. It's really slow to change gear. And you have no clutch control. I'd get a manual mate

Just a thought as I have the 328 auto running gear from a low mile car, my road car is a tiptronic box and is spot on. Thanks for the guidance.
