I presume the long silver pole is the gear shifter, what's the other thing next to the handbrake?

The long silver thing is the hydraulic handbrake, standard handbrake is still in the original position and used purely as a parking brake :)

Shame about the lack of dashboard- just looks a mess I'm afraid :(

Other than that, it looks ok. Should look better with the interior sorted 8)

Diff- 320 welded :)
Cup holders was an optional extra, it does come with a warming of beheading though as the holder is perfectly in line with the jaw :D

It's only a drifter so I was after saving as much weight as possible in her.
Next step is coilovers now as I found it unstable around the corners on my 1st drift day yesterday

I'm running 40 mm lowering springs on the front and apex inserts and i never have a problem! think it handles quite nice actually

i dont know what it is about a stripped out motor but you've gotta love it.

That's what mine is on.
It maybe a numerous of things then that could be leading to it.
I know the caster is crap on it though as I'm having to feed the counter steer in as it slide it and doesn't self centre too good either.
Got it booked in with my mate to modified the knuckles.

I would love a cage in mine; but priorities come 1st to get her handling perfect and the set up done then it'll be chassis strengthening and caged to make way for either the m60b44 or turbo the m20 in her at the moment :)

Ain't updated this lately so I thought I'd put some of the progress and changes what's taken place.

Done my 1st drift weekend the start of last month at Birmingham Wheels and I must say, drifting is harder then I 1st thought.
Loaded the e30 up with tyres and found out I could get 12 wheels and tyres in her!

Learnt the basics, doughnuts & figure of 8's the 1st day but the only issue i encountered was it over heated due to constantly been in high revs and the lack of air it was getting through the radiator.
Way around this was to remove the grill and bonnet to let the hot air escape quicker.

The next day i decided id try out the track but unfortunately it didn't go so well as I scrubbed the wall with the front.
After this I learnt to not back off the accelerator so fast and vicious and continued the drifting.

After this I thought a few stickers could draw away the attention of the dents and scratches that it received serving me well drifting.

Few days later I decided to ditch the spoiler a s attempt to smooth the boot holes and respray them myself, bear inland I've NEVER done any sort of bodywork in my life!
After fillering it I thought I'd made the worse job ever!

But, then once I sanded it down and started again after getting a bit of know how from a mate in that trade and it went much better and looks MUCH better now I painted it too :-).

i agree, if it was hanging rust and bad paint and a breaker then why not, but that looked quite clean and tidy, within 5 mins had a smash up and its all over :(

It's drift damage, it's all part of the learning curve.
Once I'm able to do it to a good level then she will get repaired with new wings and that but in the mean time, it's pointless even pulling the dents out as it is more then likely going to happen again sooner or later

Totally agree with the owner it looks how it should be a car to learn to drift like alot of cars on here its being used and looks used thats why it looks awsome :cool: id say it looks more fun drifting and leaving dents than polishing the car for endless days and have it parked up and want someone to say "looks clean mate"

Niceone mate!
I brought her for a bargain of a price and I knew she would have bumps and knocks on her so I didn't mind.
I hear and see a lot of people spending £4-5k on a rwd and say "I've got a drifter" yet there too scared to even open then up let alone drift 1.
If I was a BDC driver I've understand that it looks a nail and should be able to look after a car better then how it looks now.
But I'm still new to it :-)

Already signed upto it :-).
It's not on a budget as of such.
I can't justify spending £600+ on a set of coilovers for me to write it off, so until I'm a competent drifter I'll be getting my own custom made coilovers cost less then £200 :-)

Mate, unless you hit a wall at 100mph you're not gonna damage ya shocks and its an area where money really should be spent.

Gaz golds, 900 odd quid, best set up ever. It totally transforms the car.

Cheap coilovers wont be much better than standard from what i've seen.

(PS there are a LOT of people on here that will hate you for drifting, ignore it, do what you wanna do)

See I've been told that coilovers themselves don't make much difference from a set of K Sport's at £560 all the way upto HSD's Mono's or Gaz Golds at £900+.
I kept hearing its the adjustable top mounts and a good set up, do these factors make much difference or is it actually the coilovers? (Don't 'think' many of the people I've spoke to have got too quality 1s tbh).

The cheaper coilovers will retain the original rear spring placement on top of the lower arms.

FULL coilovers (as they tend to be refered to as) will be a shock and spring unit combined that replaces the original units entirely, they work a lot better that way and give you more height adjustment.

With springs in the original place you cant get the car very low at the back.

The top mounts will also make a huge difference, dial in lots of camber with lots of castor and you'll be drifting with one finger!

I've used Gaz's for 5+ years and they have been tip top. About ten drift days and 80 laps of the nurburgring, smashing it over kerbs all day long and i have had no issues.

Also, you'll be wanting an e46 'clubsport' steeing rack with custom pipes, danthe on this here zone is the man to talk to about that. Reduces the lock from 4 turns to 3.

Ah awesome advice there mate!
I'll get into looking at them then I think.
I used Jom 1s on my old e36 and within a few months of abuse on the road they ended up leaking fluids.

As with 'proper coilovers' do they fit in the same place or are the needed to have special fabrication done to the chassis to take them?

Any specific top mounts you recommend or?...

Wicked for the rack reccomendation too, I'm currently using the e36 with rack spacers :-)

Nice advice there :) unsure if this helps but on my e30 im about to fit e46 bottom arms for camber might be something to look into also :)
