Do we have any active zoners in Thailand?

I did a search a while ago and sent a few PMs to Thailand based zoners (including one that joined quite recently) but have had no response.

I will be going to live in Bangkok soon and quite fancy the though of getting an E30 out there and so would be looking for advice and help....

Anyone?

There was a user called Markus_74 I think, and he was constantly saying that he had the only E30 there he'd ever seen, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

While I don't know any Zoners there, have a few sites acquired in my quest for parts.
If you know Thai, there are a couple of active forums. I have to use Google Translate and that doesn't do the job well, but you get the drift, if not the exact meaning.

www.powerbynat.com
Nat is a good guy who works on Bimmers and sells a lot of affordable spares.
He manages to speak English a bit, and can be useful to get something on wheels.

Facebook: BMW E30 Thailand is an active group but exclusively in Thai :(

BMW Society: http://www.bmwsociety.com
Owners and dealers. They have regular meets and you can get good deals on cars and spares.

www.bmwapo.com
Owned by Palm, a BMW enthusiast who also sells a lot of parts. He speaks English well! And responds to Whatsapp and mail promptly.

When you reach there, you'll see that there are lots of yards with Bimmers for sale, E21, E30 coupes, E36 and newer ones of course. Including some rare CSLs and all.

There are also a lot of parts shops, but you need to be armed with a English/Thai speaking friend along with you or pictures on your ipad/phone to show what you want.
Knowing the local language will be a huge advantage in getting the car that you want.

Don't where he was staying, I saw hundreds of E30s and other BMWs there in the remotest little town in April 2013.
Hundreds of parts shops, breaker yards, online shops and so on.

Also, there is a ThaiExpats web site for expats, naturally, for help on all kinds of things, including cars for sale.

Thanks for the replies. There was a website called BMWFamilies or something like that, it was a link in Markus' signature but the site is now down and Markus hasn't responded to my MP....

There are indeed quite a few E30s over there (i've been several times) and they do pop up for sale quite often (usually 4-pots though).

I will be taking Thai lessons, but being realistic I don't expect to be able to converse with car parts dealers very soon... hence the search for someone who could help.

I'll try some of Automaton's links, they lookk promissing, thanks.

Nah, hardly anyone is buying the Tata vehicles, unless they have poor taste.

Most of the bigger brands are here, and with launching the updated versions in next to no time, there is no need for a 'made to a price' car to take up precious parking space.
They are the ultimate disposable vehicles, swipe your card and drive off with a Nano, or the Tata Indica or Tata Manza that don't last more than a handful of years.

Taxi owners love them. And a few thousand other people for some reason I haven't been able to fathom yet. 5943 to be exact according to the chart below.

Must be the fuel economy. Or the Ambassador/Morris Oxford like space. Cheaper parts. Or national pride :)
