Is the whole aircon setup worth much at all guys ? Does it add value/ desirability to the car ? .

I would imagine that in summer, if it is working, then it would add quite alot of desireability, and some extra value, if fitted to the car.
On its own, I doubt an aged A/C setup would be worth much, particularly if you couldn't demonstrate it working.

Good luck - when a/c systems play up it almost never "just needs a regas"

Don't forget that this is not a factory set up.
I think I desribed mine on the recent Morsels thread (which is fully working despite not being regassed in at least 10 years) as "about as desireable as a hand job from John Craven".
If anyone is going to go to the trouble of installing A/C, they're gonna fit a full factory unit which gives cold air from all vents instead of just the dash vents like this system.
The only thing that makes a full Diavia system even slightly desireable is the dash infill panel / grill for the additional interior fan (some people seem to like mounting dials in these) or for spares for someone with an existing system
