Just (finally) drawing up the cam trigger set up for the M20, rotor/trigger is done and balanced, just need to check that the design will trigger the sensor just once per rotation before I sign off on that bit.
Working on the sensor plate right now, this can be done for either a bmw m5x sensor or pretty much any other sensors.
Anyone have a request for a specific sensor to be accounted for?

Should do. Proper COP ignition as well. Provided the ECU can handle it.
Tbh its a fancy rotor arm and a plate that takes the sensor, though it will allow any function that needs a proper cam sync signal.

have you got any images yet? i would be easy to what ever sensor, am using a m20 crank sensor at the moment, but a hall effect sensor would be nice more accurate at slower speed like cranking so quicker sync up, the trigger is it a single pulse per rev or a poll event eg high half cam rotation half low?? and to ask more silly questions when would the signal happen in relation to tdc compression on cylinder 1??

I highly reccomend people use Hall effect sensors, they are totally speed independent so the ecu will be triggered on the first cycle for sure, might take a cycle on two on a VR sensor depending on gap and what not.

No preference regarding sensors; I'm just hoping an upgrade to Motronic 3.3.1 from 1.3 can be made in as simple a way as possible, for fuel savings and throttle response.

Heres how i did it
inside theres an aluminium disc bolted to the rotor mount with a cap screw that passes the reluctor. The whole thing can be rotated to find the best position etc
