Following the success of the recent Cheddar meet, I am going to organise a South Wales meet with a bit of a jaunt along some roads you lot might enjoy :D

Rough outline: Meet at my workshop, out for a drive take in some sights, stop off somewhere for some food or a BBQ. We have some nice roads round here, its where many of the top gear tests are done to give you some idea. I'll make a route covering a few miles but not too much to bankrupt m20 owners :D I'll have more details when I know them myself. Unlke top gear will be using the "no man gets left behind" rules.

We first of all need to work out a date. I am putting forward the date 23rd of June, gives people chance to make plans and prep cars myself included :o: There is also a local car show for local people, we can invade, there should be some decent metal there, and some nutters too :D

Second, we need a list. Don't worry if you are e30less all are welcome.

I'd be up for it but unfortunately have plans for the last two weekends in June so I won't be able to attend. :(

Small update: I have decided to go with the date as proposed, June 23rd.

Apologies to those that can't make it on this day, there will be other meets, and runouts.

I have began working out a route, and will update.

This looks excellent, I've said yes to my lady bear that I'll come to the Royal Ascott (no my thing.. she loves a big hat!) with her on the friday so I think a trade off is in order, she come come along up to Wales...

Work pending.. which is least likely on a Sunday.. I'm in. :D

That's one sexy road! Other half is considering dropping a sprog on the 19th June, if he's a petrol head like his old man he'll kindly leave home early so I can go :D I am e30 less but only because it's still in East Anglia. It's track repared, but certainly nt fast! (And with no creature comforts, so I'll consider this a pikey version of a shake down :D)

I'd put myself down, but all depends on the course of nature. And I have another forum section to check now... :x

I should be able to join in this one. Sunday 23rd looks ok.
Put me down barring unforeseen circumstances

They have been fitting new safety barriers along the side of the Rhigos road, I'm only a few mins away in Blaencwm but due to lack of garage my E30 is still in Berkshire.

Link the mountain roads together and on up the road to nowhere from the distillery over to the bikers stop at the arms that sounds like glory and any which way over the moors to ystradgynlais and you covered best part of three hours of the most scenic driving roads this side of Glasgow.

....without giving the game away too much either.

Im down in Hirwaun..

..and whos gone and parked his bimmer in the barbecue area then..

Hi pud email your profile pic to cook2909@gmail.com and I'll upload it and send you the instructions. In big letters if you like :P :)

On the photos, it's good to be back in the land of my fathers, forgot what real roads look like having been in East flat Anglia for years... 8O

...and, slightly off topic but as we're all roughly in the same area, can anyone recommend a lockup garage as close as poss to Swansea? I've had one offer of £50 in Pontardawe, but if someone has a workshop I could use and space for a few extra notes, welll... 8)

Ta. I ll attach it now. Ive tried the two sites they recommend and have got so far but not quite managed the final step to get them downloaded. Im sure its me and not the sites but its a bit frustrating now.

Lived just about everywhere myself, 4 years in the Norfolk Broads. You could have a 25yr old car and still have the original clutch. Had to drive to Suffolk to see an hill!..

Quick update, I have planned a route it is by no means set in stone. It is an 80 mile circular from and back to my workshop. How does that sit with people? Feedback please.

I'm suggesting we make a day of it and have an early(ish) start. I have spoken to the organiser of the car show, and hes happy to be getting some more folks turning up, I dont think there is an entry fee but I'll check. It really will be a small show I think, but some times I find that better you get chance to appreciate the cars there, rather than rush round not taking it all in. It finishes at 3.00pm so I'm aiming to have finished the route and back there in plenty of time, its about 5 miles from my workshop on the return.

Stay tuned :D

This is why I'm asking peoples opinion :) I have fuel cans you can borrow :snigger:

Do you need 99ron?

Seriously though, I dont want to scare people off with too long a drive.

As mentioned the "no man gets left behind" rules will be in force :thumb:

...and I was hoping we were going to keep everyone in the pack, unlike a certain tv motoring team. Mines not the fastest around and wots the point of a stunning view if its just a series of blurred rocks and sheep..

99 Ron is what she drinks, I think 80 miles is fine ill fill up and see how much is left when I get to the start we'll have to drive economically, it can be done

Yes lots of sheep :D

As for 99 ron, don't worry there are a good few places to fill up we will make a special stop just for you. Dont give me all that economical driving rubbish :D

The meet will start at my workshop, there is plenty of room for parking, plus its really convienent for me :D I'll give exact details nearer the time, but I'm in Pontypool.
