turbo
Moderator: martauto
I am just looking for my turbo for the m20 turbo conversion ,I have decided I need the hx35 (i want a nice steady 400 bhp ish ) but most seem to be a twin scroll but my manifold is just a standard t3 One ,will it still work ok with the twinscroll turbo or do I need to do more searching .cheers .

as long as the flange matches it will work, you just won't gain the full advantages of your twinscroll turbo with a undivided manifold

Sticking with the m20 then?what manifold have you got?Ive got the ebay special thing and spoken to a welder about modifying it for external wastegate and maybe making it twin scroll by dividing the flange and straight down under that.just an idea.
Also Ive got a h1c here that needs a rebuild that ill be using.its similar to the hx35 and got a huge exhaust housing. 18.5cm one

there is a h2c on ebay now a new one but i think thats too big ,yeah sticking with the m20 ,stripped that one i got from you down for bits (pistons had been hit etc)and shotbalsted/cleaned a few of them going to build them up on another engine get the sump etc off your old one drilled for oil return and the tb bored out too and the flywheel skimmed right down. I too have one of them crappy ebay ones got it for £100 from a lad off here so its worth a try if it cracks i will then think about getting one properly made whats the worst that can happen.
I was advised against diving it as it wont be right apparently but i suppose its all a bit of trial and error . Injectors are the next one im unsure of got a few ideas but havnt bought anything for certain yet people seem to use such a wide range of size i want 400 bhp at the fly

Yeah thats what im going to do with the manifold.can't your mate who's building that E30 jag make you a manifold? His welding skills are ace.he could just copy the Chinese one but make it better.
My build is on the back burner at the moment.going to get the car mint and running sweet first.sort out my bbk before adding a turbo.
Also going to the the megasquirt running standard
about the holsets.Ive seen that a 3" pipe is best for exhaust but im sure my h1c has got a 2.5" v band clamp on it.
So i may just go with 2.5" as Ive got some bends to mock up an exhaust to get all the sizing done then make in stainless

He would be able to im just going to use this manifold first then upgrade later if i need it ,a few other lads on here run them and have been for ages with no issues so should be ok ,i will just brace it a bit .Not sure on exhaust sizes ..i keep on at him for more pics of that jag went to see it today its close to done and looks class .
mine has been on the back burner but its now at top priority .

Ive been used to the power of my Mondeo diesel and my transit.drove the sport a few weeks ago.forgot how powerful she was so i decided to just keep it standard for a bit while i upgrade brakes and making sure everything else is ready for turbo.hopefully it'll see its first trip to the ring in a while.been a few years since she's been there.
Need to rebuild my holset aswell.not sure of i should send it away to be repaired.try it myself or look for another one.the rebuild kit is only 60quid and Ive reason that they don't need balancing if it all goes back in the same place etc
