Iv got a 325i and the exhaust is blowing badly, i probably could just replace it with a standard item but im tempted to put a whole new performance system on. I don't know very much about BMWs as this is my first so does anyone have any advice on a good system to go for or a good website to look on?
The only thing id like the new system to have is the same tail pipes as the standard system (twin angle cut pipes) if that makes sense.

Also random question but my car is a 325i se. what (if anything) does the se part mean?

BMW E30 2.0 Convertible (M52B28)
BMW E30 2.0 2 Door (M20B28 Turbo project to start)
BMW E36 328i Sport (M52B28 Turbo Project)

Personally I'd always go with the standard genuine system - you won't get any more power from any aftermarket system, and even a stainless system is unlikely to last any longer than the real thing. Your present exhaust is quite likely to be the original.
OE system won't be cheap though. It'll cost a similar amount to a stainless system.
There's modest gains to be had in top end power by replacing the manifold with a GOOD aftermarket one, but that's not a cheap exercise either.

I was quoted £1,300 for an original BMW system.
I purchased a Blueflame stainless system for £386 even though its £482 on their website http://www.blueflameperformance.com/bmw ... edge-trims

The pipes are bigger than standard but as they make them from scratch im sure they could put smaller pipes on them

I thought full Scorpion systems were pretty good quality? Not cheap though, about 500-600 for a 3 piece cat back :)

I know what a cat is.

Mine is an '88 car, no cat. 8) Also it sounds like I'm running minimal/no baffles...really should replace the full system.

Cars prior to 09/1992 don't need to meet any CO2 requirements, so good for all of us!

Actually mine can pass a CO2 test without a cat.
