E36 or Z3 steering rack, with a set of hydraulics pipes made up. Should be an easy fit, it's documented on the articles section.
Diff should be available from a breakers, FAB list them for Ԛ£250. If you've got a wodge of cash lying around tehn a quaife ATB would do the same job but better.

TAS motorsport did a manual quick rack 2.7turns. they are now shut down though. i want one of those racks big time
Hi
I can get the racks made by the same people who made the tas ones (i had a load of e21 one made) about 150-175 for a kit depending on numbers, so far i have about six people up for it.
But based on past experince i need a at least 12 with a 1/3 deposit to make it happen

Z3 or breadvan rack for PAS. (Not M3 rack or standard E36, too slow.)
Non-Pas, LHD 2.25 turn Talbot Sunbeam rack, upside down. (Even fits BMW TREs.)

I've personally measured the E36 racks.Striker wrote:Hi M3Compact,
Can you be a bit more speciic on the racks.
Have you ever fitted any of the racks you suggest? what are the ratios? how easy are they to fit? what are the costs involved?
Cheers, Andy
Z3 racks have the highest geared/quickest steering.
I use a Z3 rack with 2.75 turns, it has fractionally less output than a standard E36 rack. (147mm V 158mm)
Standard E36 racks have 3.4 turns.
E36 M3 Evo racks have less turns than standard (due to lock limiting tabs), but they have the same ratio as standard E36 racks.
E36 M3 3.0L racks are variable ratio with the same overall turns/output as an Evo rack. (3.0ish turns)
I haven't used an upside down LHD Talbot Sunbeam 2.25 turn competition rack, but I know of two people that have fitted them, both said it was easy and used the standard TREs. (These racks are fairly readily available.)

Does anyone know where I can source a Z3 rack? Cant seem to find one anywhereԚ…Ԛ…

E21 racks can also be modified and are alot quicker, 2.4 turns I believe, used to have one in E36 but it also fitted our E30.
please contact admin with regard to sig
Hi
Intrestering conversion, the e21 maunual rack is clamped on with a bracket, not bolted through like the e30 type, I not sure if the bolt spacing is the same. Any more detials.
Jason
PS I still have a few e21 quick rack kits for sale Ԛ£135 plus postage. and I am kit close for nubers to get e30 racks made so i will send an email soon to all those who enquired.
