Hope this helps

This is if you have a six cylinder car.

The thin pipe between the coolant expansion tank and the radiator blocked twice on my car (the second time happened this weekend). This caused my car to overheat like crazy. Everything else was fine and this baffled me for a whole weekend previously. Who'd expect that thin pipe of causing so much probs?

Try checking whether it's blocked. On my car the inlet the pipe fits onto the expansion tank was clogged.

start the car and let it run up to temp, then feel if the radiator is hot at the top, the middle or the bottom, if the radiator is cool then your friend could be partly right, the thermostat opens and closes to keep the car (well actually the water) at one temp (about 80C) if that has stuck closed your radiator will not get hot.

if the radiator is hot then please let us know, does it overheat on the move or only when stationary

on the move .. waterpump, head gasket, leak, air lock etc etc need more info

stationary ... viscous fan, and all the above

ps i hope its only your little pipe!!! get your girlfriend to enlarge it winkeye
