The moredoor failed its mot miserably today,

rear subframe bushes have excesive play

trackrod ends excesive play (i couldent feel it)

nearside and offside rear springs not seated correctly when jacked up

both rear topmounts

few other bits like a little welding

Its the rear subframe bushes that im not going to have time to do or the tools to do so the car might be going to the scrapheap in the sky :( :( :(

Other than the bushes and welding the rest is an easy fix and not particularly expensive. But it all depends on whether your car is worth saving.

Trouble is i havent got the time to do it, everything apart from the rear subframe bushes i could scrape to do.

Also what can i do about the rear springs? dont all lowering springs rattle around a bit when jacked up?

It may not be worth saving as it need rear arches doing and is a basic model. I may be in the hunt for a cheap moredoor 325 or 320 soon then.

lowering springs shouldnt rattle when jacked as long as you havent gone silly.

although worn topmounts will let the whole lot drop further when raised off it's wheels. its why you should use shortened dampers with shorter springs really.
cheers,

I hjad the rear bushes done on mine recently along with a referbed LSD, rear brake lines, Diff bush, and some rear arch wielding. All in was just under a grand. The wielding and painting was 400 odd on it's own . . . so breaking that down your only looking at around 300 or so to do just the rear bushes (guess) but if your dropping the rear sub out then you might as well do a few other bits and bobs, hence the price on mine.

It's not that astronomical a price. And mine was passing on rear bush adviseries for at least three years before I got them done (they where quite bad, the Mot bloke said this was the last year he could really pass them)

Try another MOT place. Mine know the car and know I'm spending a bit of dosh on it. Amazing how they respond when they know you'll be back to flash some cash.

I know money is tight around for some. But sometimes it don't half help to 'ease' cars through their MOT's.

On a good note, I had my 325 sail through the MOT today. It's only done 434 miles since its last and they don't bother looking at it 8)

Specialist usually charge £160-200 to supply and fit the rear bushes. Personally, I'd get it back on the steels and trims and throw it on Ebay. You'll probably get Your money back even if it is a shonky pov spec quattroporte with no rent and test

This

On a more serious note, I reckon the council /RBS/ Mi5/ UKIP have 'nobbled' the MOT station to make sure smellit had no ride and would not be able to continue to investigate all the wrongness going down

There's defiantly a conspiracy afoot here!

I reckon the mole people secretly own the MOT station and through the power of ants, brainwashed the workers into failing his car as retaliation for getting close to working out who shot JFK, 9/11, 7/7, Madrid train bombings and the Boston bombings.

Its still here at the mo, im going out to get an e36 325i at the weekend for a daily and will save pennies for a e30 cab in a few months or so.

im going to put the moredoor at my mums place and take it to pieces.

The wheels have been sold for £200 8O to a bloke with a kit car.
