Can anyone point me in the right direction to remove the auto lever?
What position does it have to be in?
Automatic lever removal?

The auto lever is more part of the car body than the gear box. Its connected to the box via a rod on the near side and held with a lift and slide clip. The whole lever gubbins is then held with 3 or 4 nuts or bolts under the console, which will have to come out. The T shaped knob has an allen at the front for removal.
