hmm,,,, powerflow exhausts? any comments on these?? i can get a very substantial discount for these... are they any good though?? i had one on a mk4 polo.. toooo loud for my liking.. though lifetime warrenty etc... all good? they good exhausts in general? cheers

ive had a 2.5" straight through with 1 big silencer at the rear made up 3 weeks ago,im impressed with this one,better quality of finish than the last one and not to loud, a nice deep rumble

I have just had a longlife custom fitted to my e30 318i. I already had the back box i wanted, but got the guy to fit two oval boxes in the centre and then weld to my supplied back box. It cost me Ԛ£189 and i am very impressed with the quality of the work and the lifetime warranty. It is a touch loud for my liking, but thats my fault for having zero packing in the rear box. The guy was really helpfull and will craft anything you want with the sound you want. I can thoroughly recomend.

mine was Ԛ£250 from the turbo to the large back box that i supplied from another attempt by someone else.it really depends on the craftsmanship of the guys building it,everywhere will be different.
I've got a powerflow centre section om my 325, with a standard rear box. It's loud, but not deep like the usual BMW sounds, more raspy like the E46 M3. Nice and quiet under 3k rpm though. Twin pipe section cost Ԛ£120 all in.

Powerflow and Longlife exhausts, Mmmm, depends on what your after really. Looks, sound, life warrenty....yes its all good here.
If you are looking for performance enhancement, well look elsewhere like Janspeed, Magnex, Miltek. These companies take into consideration exhaust pulses, etc and what is needed to increase a particular cars performance. Increasing the diameter doesn't necessarily mean more BHP and Torque.
As a dyno operator, I am yet to see an increase in power on a standard car with standard ECU maps. I usually see a decrease.
Don't get me wrong, I am not putting people off from buying one, I have seen some systems they have done which are absolute works of art, but that is what they were, "art", not for power gains.
This is just from my experiance, others may have had different?

I have a full powerflow system from the downpipes back with no silencer on my 325i sport......
Very loud but throaty at the same time!!!
For everyday driving on motorways its not what you want but for weekend use like my sport...its brilliant!

I've got only one box on the back of mine which is about 1/2 the size of the original one, but the turbos seem to knock most of the noise out of it so it has a nice bassy burble, but isn't too loud.

its worked for me in my application, i went for the bigger diameter pipe as thats the recommended cosworth size for the stage of tuning that im aiming for. i didnt have much choice though as i cant get an "off the shelf" exhaust for my car.
Power flow......are the way to go...

Not loud just enough.
And the exhaust is still in perfect condition after a year.....They also give you life time warrenty.
Expensive though...Mine was between Ԛ£299 and Ԛ£301....work it out..lol

I would say for a turbo application though, it doesn't matter as much as the flow is being forced anyway
But someone like Simpson exhausts do one offs and take into account what engine, whats been done, etc, etc, etc, but are expensive. I have heard great reports about them, and for custom made systems they are "probably" one of the best.

Just thought i'd dig up this thread to add some comments. I've got a powerflow centre section on my track car. I was talking to the owner of the race engineering company it's in with at the moment and he was less than complimentary about it. "Bolt on" "home made" were the most notable, but he was reluctant to say any more as it's not really good form to slag off other people's work. Also mentioned that it's starting to come apart, and that's after less than a thousand miles.
But all that was reflected in the price, so i'm not particularly unhappy with it.

I use power flow and have on customers cossies audi's red top vauxhalls and a few others. Power flow do a large range of boxes, if you only want a noise maker they do it and so do peco ansa remus and the list goes on. but when it comes to performance enhancement then the back box makes sod all difference the flow of the mainfold and letting the engine breathe properly is what makes a difference. the box im using at present is off my manta gte 400. which i sold seven years ago in bits. i like the note it produces and it has taken a beating and a have had the pipe changed to suit the bm. power flow are a long established co and give good garantee.. but you can have the best back box in the world put it on a standered system and it will do nothing except make noise. put it on a sh%t made system and you will loose power. put a decent manifold on and a straight through system with a german a swedish standered box and you will be a lot better off. rember an engine is a pump...
I have a powerflow system on the rocco and although the welds are in the pidgeon droppings style
it has held together and sounds nice. Too loud really and much louder than i wanted but a good deep tone with no rasp at all once its warmed up, when i find a bm it could end up back there but i will have to stress it to them to make it quieter.

I had a center section made for my mk1 golf at longlife in plymouth, the owner there said it all comes down to who makes your exhaust regarding quality. At long life they asked me what i wanted my exhaust to sound like, i.e. loud, sporty, the same. Im sure powerflow quote they can do the same. If your just looking for a high quality replacement exhaust then id recomend them.
