you can measure the stroke without removing the head.
remove a spark plug and put a long screwdriver in and measure the stroke that way.
if its a 2.7 eta bottom end the stroke should be 81mm the 2.5 has a 75mm stroke
the 2.0 has a 66mm stroke where as a 2.3 bottom end should have a 76.5mm

if you measure the stroke this should tell you what bottom end you have. none of the m20 engines had the same stroke so this should be pretty much guaranteed

unless some one has used a 323 crank in a 2.5 block and built a 2.6 but this would be better than a 2.7 IMO
