Hi Guys,
Be of a nightmare this week, I am due to change the gearbox and diff oil on Saturday, and am content enough on how to carry that out. Just when I was soaking the bolts on wd40 tonight, I had a look for the Blue water temp sensor, due to the lumpy idle when cold, and the hesitating/kangaroo petrol in 1st and 2nd. I have changed the cracked rubber hose that goes from the air box to the control valve, still no joy. I have a 318i M40, and notice its impossible to test or replace the temp sensor without taking the intake manifold of. Is it a simple matter of unscrewing the bolts on the top and they pull of ? or do I have to disconnect fuel rails etc. Also noticed tonight the oil cap, is like a mustard colour and inside is yellowy colour. I have feared the worse and think its the head gasket. However with the car lying for 3 years and only doing 5 miles in and out to work, she isn't getting up to the proper temperature. Anyways any of you guys inputs is always greatly appreciated. Thanks
Help Removing Coolant Temp Sensor ? Intake Manifold?

The only reason to remove the blue temp sensor is because you've tested it and confirmed that it's duff. Have you done that?

Have you checked all other pipe work regulating air getting into your engine.....
How old are your HT leads, mine were broken down when I got my 320i and the only way you could get it running in cold or damp was by spraying duck oil on them to offer some insulation
