Nice one I remember tackling my sunroof cassette managed to get it out and was such a relief when it dropped and t*ated me on the head!

Finished up these brackets for the sunroof today , unsure if im happy tbh quite abit of faffing to get the panel level . Will have to make spacers and adapt how it will bolt down .

Its level but bolting it to the brackets is going to be agg , alot of thought needed tomorrow

Change of plans with the sunroof . Dont like the brakets at all .

Soo today i received this handy little tool that helped me out alot today .

All sound deadening inside the "cockpit" may you call it is removed .

Then rethinking on the whole sunroof idea , had a look and i worked out how to seperate the two skins on the sunroof panel .

I used the grinder on one spot weld and thought id try hitting the scraper , after about 30-45 mins of carefull faffing about with said scraper and a rubber mallet .

I ended up with this .

And this , which i beleive is also older than me , i dont think my grandad will be best pleased if i continue to break and bend his tools lol (i do replace the broken tools)

Anywho , what i shall be getting is some 4mm stainless wire rope to go all around the panel and tack weld onto the panel, from now on its trial and error . I hope i will be satisfied

Soooo ive been getting a little down and dirty lately cutting out rust and removing shizzle , take a look.

Spare wheel well ,Grinded back the seem sealer and drilled out the spot welds . The only part that seems at all weak is the n/s/r corner of the hole

Then onto the rear valance , im working on all the rust on the drivers side for the mo so i dont have to turn the car around due to space .

cut out the rear valance and part of the rear box or whatever technical term for it is . Rust !

Then this ... Ground it down and a coat of Hammerite rust cure stuff .

Moving on to inside the car !!

quite luckily the points for the throttle peddle seem solid !!

Front drivers jacking point !

before i drilled the spots out for jacking plate .

for now its all shot with some primer until my welder is working or unless i can borrow one for a weekend !

I also weighed the sunroof tray and inner skin of sunroof panel , the result was 10kg , so quite abit from the roof !!

also if anyone can suggest tool other than a vice for bending sheet metal thats an average cheap price would be appreciated , i will be getting a joggler tho

also my plans were to go m52 but considering keeping the m50 and saving more to do a turbo conversion on standard management maybe running low boost with holset hx35 or equivalent with a goal of 280- 300 hp .

Clamp the sheet you want to bend between 2 pieces of right angle steel and tap it over, then planish it. Or buy/make a sheet metal folder

Don't bother using a joggler to make lap welds, do it properly and butt weld in it. Just practise a lot first.

when im messing with sheet metal i got hold of a girder and use it as an anvil. works well with a hammer and abit of heat. good progress so far

Impressive work with the sunroof and wheel well, two jobs that seem awful but you made look easy. An interesting project!
