I had asked before hand, whether a baurs central locking & wiring was the same as a tech 1 & was told it was. Makes sense, both pre-facelift.

Got the central locking loom from a baur and found the door connectors are completely different.

Unfortunately don't have a better picture.

So if anyone is breaking a tech 1, I'll have the engine loom and interior loom. Mines butchered and sick of dealing with it!

Considering the age of the donors, it might make more sense to buy new plugs and pins from BMW and spend an evening with a soldering iron making new looms. You've got plenty of spare wire there by the looks of it.

I think you're right. New connectors would be the right direction.

Although I would rather start replacing connectors on the correct loom.

Robert, EARLY Chromies are different to late chromies. All tech 1's are classed as late pre-facelift.

There are hundreds of random subtle differences and most early Baur's fall into the early category. The Y-Plater I have been involved with is an effing nightmare you wouldn't believe how different everything is, from the parcel shelf to seat belt clasps, 2 part main carpet, seat belt rails, fuel tank etc etc :(

Use donors from 1986/1987 and you won't go wrong I wouldn't think.
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Plug in your left hand(the roundy one)is the same as all that I have seen in front door pillars. But my experience is with facelift cars!

Ah! Ok! That is a relief. I was starting to think all sorts of things yesterday. "Maybe its had a later m20 engine dropped in and later electrics,,, maybe its not a tech 1! 8O"

Between the central locking and the recaros I'm close to having a small fit.

I wonder how much a new loom from BM would be! hmmm

Another trifling question, is 14 - 15 & 16 the door plug?

Real oem isn't overly descriptive!

What year was the Baur out of interest? Obviously all Baurs started out as standard 2 door models before the bastardising :)

I didn't even ask but I was given the loom, so no harm. :)

I will ask Colin when I see him.

Yea, I was going on the notion that all pre-facelift where the same. *sigh*
