You can just contact GAZ and they'll tell you to just send them in to them, to be be serviced,
I'm sure it's only about £50 for the rears and £50 for the fronts,

25 each, sounds about right, I think

Thanks for your comment. The pictures do justice. But if you look at the arms and the brake back plate very closely you can see runs, were i applied the paint quite thick.
The front and rear subframes have come out very good, were I used a spray gun and some thinners. If there is a next time overhauling these I'll use a spray gun on them.
I've been reading your project thread its coming on very nicely

Not much of a update as such

I've spoken to GAZ they said approx £30 a corner for a service and plus more if any repair work is needed. Far as I'm aware I'll need two rear shocks need doing as they are leaking. But I'll send of all four, hoping the two front ones are straight forward service.

A sight change in the direction for this conversion in a good way.
I'll be going for custom cam which has specifically grind profiles for my setup. It should give as much as 60wheel torque over a standard cam across the power band. :D

I couldn't believe it myself over the gains For those who don't believe here is the email he sent

Sag,

Was talking to Todd and he related to me that you have one of his manifolds on your car.

I have a camshaft that we developed for his kit that produces a substantial torque increase across the power band (as much as 60 wheel torque gain over B35 cam).

It has a power band from 2400rpm to 5800rpm (with stock b35 intake) and peak torque around 3800/4000rpm.

I would not use a larger camshaft with the log style manifold as the exhaust pressure will build faster than the manifold can release it resulting in higher than acceptable back pressures.

If you want a larger more aggressive camshaft to realize more power gain/rpm I would recommend a tube style manifold.

How do you like my pistons you purchased through Todd?

Thanks,
Paul Burke
Imagineering

The cam has been ordered and the ETA is around 2weeks.

Iv forgot to mention as well on previous update that iv sent my diff of to Gareth for full Rebuild I'll be increasing the locks to around 40-50% and using a ratio of 3.25 and converting h back plate to a twin mounted one . I should hopefully getting the diff early feb. But know updates as of yet.

Hopefully in the next week or the week after I'll be sending my loom and VEMS ecu to get wired up by Gunni. This was something I thought of doing myself ,as I bought tools for this specific job and I'm quite capable doing it. But due to time and the reasonable cost Gunni has quoted. I'll be sending off to him.

Stay tuned for more updates!

update 28/04/2012

Its been year since this project started and its no where near complete.( at least a 2-3 months away).

I think i totaly under estimated this project, here was me thinking 6-8 months max. :o:. How wrong was I!!

Any way since the last update, not many things have been done,
i came down with a very nasty viral bug, which caused pnuemonia and required a 5 day stay at the hosiptal last month.

Now fully recovered with decent spell of weather lately , i manged to the install the rear suspension last week , minus the diff as gareth has still got it.

also went on the rust hunt on the bulk head area and the roof. Removed the sound/heat deading material and SURPRISE,SURPRISE

FUSE BOX AREA

BATTERY TRAY

[img][/img]

ROOF

[img][/img]

I poached a welder/fabricator, who works at a company restoring vintage cars ,to have a look at the fuse box area and battery tray. He said he will cut it out and fabricate new metal to weld in and assured it will look O.E as much as possible and also some great news the fuse box can stay in place.

Ive got it booked in next weekend with him at my work place. So ill need to make the steering funcational, so i can get the car towed to my work place.

Im quite lucky with the roof, it looks quite bad on the pics but i can assure you its only surface corrosion. Theres two ways to go with this is either remove the sun roof tray complete, so i can rub it down and treat with paint or cut out little pockets on the sunroof tray to gain access to rub it down and treat it. Ill stick to the second idea me thinks.

Finally the custom cam and sprocket has arrived last month from the states

Ill be sending out the loom next week to Gunni for him to wire it up to the VEMS ECU. Ill be using a m50 Throttle position senor (new from ECP), with a custom bracket ordered from the states to allow fitment and be using a wasted spark coil pack from a vauxhall omega v6(new from ECP).

In next few weeks ill be hoping to get

1 Welding done

2 engine build complete with the new cam

3 installing the manual pedal box with new master cylinder and new clutch line

4 getting the rebuilt diff back

5 getting the wiring done

6 installing front subframe with a e46 rack

7. getting the interior back

Hoping all this is done, then i can think of getting the engine installed by the end of may.

UPDATE 29/09/2013 ENGINE IN !!

Finally some progress.

From the previous update i had the vehicle at the workshop ready for welding. i had a new battery tray put in and the fusebox mounting area rust cut out and new plates welded in.
Once that was done i had it towed back home. (Pics will follow once i find the memory card)

Once at home, i got a used manaul pedal box( as im converting it to a manual) of which i rubbed down ,sprayed with hammerite smooth ,a new master cylinder, new gasket.

Image

i got the dash back on ,but before that i had all the areas behind the dash waxoiled and new gaskets fitted on the heater vents. I manged to get some wires back on,the rest ill attack on another day.

Also i removed the guides, rockers and camshaft from the head again as i was installing the new custom cam.

Fast foward three months

i finished the complete rebuild of the engine and ancillaries.

The time had come with installing the engine,i ritually had one day to get engine in and make the car moveable to get it towed home. Here go's!

Once the engine was in , my main concern was to get the car move able ,as i had to get it towed home. So i left the engine mounted. i decided to put new wheel bearings on the front and installl the 4pot brake conversion
