You can definitely tell the e30 is more of a second / weekend car these days

ive seen 3 today as its been a nice day.

One a White facelift cabby Just outside of Darlington, which looked almost like new

The second A 325i mtech II Touring with 16" Alpinas on

and Third a 318i Touring

Think ive seen more today that i have in the past 3 Month and ive only done about 10-15 mile today

There is deffintly a correlation with the weather and e30 presence

I bumped into my old college tutor today who asked if i said i still had an e30. He said hold onto it they will be worth a fortune one day.

All this Today has given me a kick up the backside to wash my e30 and fit new bits of trim and pull it out the garage.

Ive also decided to sell my daily and drive the e30 as a daily once again,

:D

Good plan. These cars don't want to sit in a garage 9 months a year, they're a BMW - built to be driven everyday!

I'm convinced using e30's as a daily is a better bet for longevity than leaving everything to seize up/corrode in a garage anyway...

Mine's a daily too, certainly puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!

Agreed. Mine was initially our second car to an E36 and E46 and didn't get much use. Now that its the sole member of the fleet and getting put into more regular service it drives so much better.

Why keep a car if you're going to drive it only 2 days a week?

Appreciation factor aside, it's just waste of a car. It was built to be ragged around (erhmmm...and serviced as well), especially the 325i lol :D

It's not a waste at all, a few of us may spend most of the week in work vans and have another car for light duty's then enjoy driving the e30 at the weekend if the weather is nice, a e30 as a daily, no thanks.

Depends on a lot IMO.

Cash flow
Love of other cars
Type of E30 be it M3 or 316
Time to work on them
Kids!!!!
Work/play life balance.

Lots to consider having a ''second'' car.

My 325i is ferrying me to work at the moment, 50 mile round trip 5-6 days a week. I take it out and smash about 40 miles on it most evenings too. It loves carving up B roads round my area, it feels like he's nagging me to stay out just that little bit longer!

These things are driving machines, especially 6 pots. Mine feels more like a loyal pet to me, we go everywhere together :D

Most of the e30's i see on the road are the typical old car being ran until they fail the next mot. The e30 is still and will always be a bmw that the general public don't care for, as in "ah that's one of those old bmw's", while an e24 was and will always attract the right attention(excluding basket case corpse's).

Of course the nice e30's still exist but they're a second car for the owners due to just being old and impractical(or an m3/rarity) .

Same up in North Wales. Every now'n again ill give a flash/thumbs up or nod to a fellow E30 and its turns out to be one confused old dirty poor person in a wreck of an E30...we need these embarrassments off the road and pulled apart!

Have seen a nice is and touring today. Having a newish diesel BMW makes me nostalgic for a straight six m20 engined e30. I need a 325i Sport in Dolphin Grey manual for weekend duties :)

i dont know what car you have, but when a lot of time and money and love is spent on a car and its a minter, you simply dont want to be driving it every day and leaving it in car parks and streets everywhere to the mercy of the general public, also rarety and fact it can be irreplacable, PLUS a big factor is fun....il be driving around all week and work etc in a work horse diesel range rover, on a nice day when i get my E30 out the garage and take it out for some fun...woooosh it will feel even more like a rocket and just be pure unadulterated pleasure and the smile factor and be much more fun and appriciate it than driving it every day

had this convo with the fella whos sdone my car- hes got an imaculate cossie , and recently just spent £21,000 on a range rover sport, worth double what the cossie is,. we were looking at my car and i said "its gonna be hard to drive it"

he said ..."same as my cossie, ive dont 2k miles on it in 4 years and after all the time and love and effort ive put inb to it, i won park it just anywhere, yet ive just spent 21 grand on a range rover that il just leave anywhere, thats replacable, the time and love put in to the cossie isnt and i love it"

fact is, its nice to have a nice 2nd car that you can use for pleasure, a bit of a hobby too that e30s are

I only ever see one e30 regularly and its a tech 1 kitted white baur, the old chap has owned it from new and its a very nice looking car and exceptionally well maintained. Other than that your lucky if you see another e30 outside meets or shows. But that's the Scottish weather for you. Most have dissolved by now.

Seen three in Norwich in the past week - two 2 door saloons and a late Lux touring in Lagoon Green.

Don't tend to see many these days though. I recently completed a 1200 mile trip to Scotland and back in mine and didn't see any E30s, E28s, E32s or E34s. :(

Not a lot where I am, although now the weather has perked up I'm seeing a few more. I see a slammed silver cabby with red interior on the Brighton road and a stunning red m3 this week drove past me in Caterham valley. Both times I was in mine, whether they see me or not I don't know. There is also a dog groomer that uses a white touring where I live
