Didn't really take long at all. Popped out the black cover on the scuttle and took a couple of 7mm screws from the firewall just enough to remove the motor. Then fit the new motor just took about two hours really. I didn't need to do heater fan as its fine. I took the old one apart and greased it up but it still would not complete a cycle so I binned it.

Remember to position the motor and the wiper blades correctly when you put it all back together, there is a specific formulae in the BMW workshop manual that you need to use so it's all alligned perfectly.[/quote

I just used common sense by plugging the new motor in before installing it and turned it on to do a wipe so that it was in the finished/start/parked ... position. Then after I fitted it I manually put the wipers into the same position and bolted them up (but before you try them make sure they are not on the screen but pulled forward) just in case. All was perfect with them parking in the correct position with all functions working as well winkeye

You have to triangulate both spindles from the wiper arms and align them with the aerial using those measurements and the BMW manual you use the formulae and the number on the wiper motor to work out the position that it needs to sit on the 3 studs, if you look at the wiper motor casing the holes are elongated so they can be moved backwards or forwards as this adjusts the sweep of he blades thus cleaning the screen perfectly and not exerting to much stress on the scuttle panel as this is what causes the hairline cracking and leads to rust in those arrears.
do you still have to wear the special protective hat and goggle's that are NLA from BMW as well or is that not recommended anymore? iv always wondered.

Don't be silly, of course you don't. BMW have said a reversed baseball cap will work just as well.

:D , if the sale falls through let me know, im going to risk it just with the reverse baseball cap as suggested, but it would be nice to have the OEM tools.
