Dextron II, now largely replaced by Dextron III.
You'll need heavy duty hose clips on those pipes. It's thick and stiff rubber, and takes a bit of force to squeeze in and seal.

Best I've come across (at reasonable prices) are the original maker - Jubilee clips. http://www.jubileeclips.co.uk/
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap

You won't damage the reservoir by crushing it, but you may twist off the stub pipes if you just tighten the clip regardless, without holding the clip/pipe with your other hand. Unbolt the tank so that it's hanging loose, and you'll be unlikely to damage it.
I use whatever brand my motor factors puts on the counter when I ask for it, which is usually Comma.
As Morat says, usually the original is best. The packet of six you buy in your local Poundland are unlikely to be up to the job.
