dme electrical problems, need real help with this

1989 18i auto,engine swap to 1986 preface 25i manual front pully sensor,following troubleshooting page,i wired dme 30 and the two 87s pins and fires up so bought new dme relay from bmw,plugged in new dme relay still the same no power to the two 87 pins,it has an alarm system which i have turned off by the key on system itself,, it must be a wiring problem can any one point me in the right direction,

Probably ECU not getting power from ignition switch on plain green wire.

under dash where ecu plugs in ,on the loom before ecu plug there is a plug and on loom coming from igntion there are two empty plugs this was pluged in to old loom off the auto 18i lump could this be it or is it from ecu plug to ignition thanks for helping it seems i will need help on this ,any help will be most thankfull,rick

ok i think i have narrowed it down to no power through relay,there is power at plug,, might be icv its round and goes on to the rubber boot with a three pin plug, i have conected old relay took top off, then made contact inside and all is good, it says its the relay thats no good , but i have spaires and new one from bmw, plug in still nothing, if wired together at plug away she goes fires strait up i cant get my head around it ,is there some thing before dme reay plug ,ie switch or sender,thanks

ok i have tried to sort this out,so far,on relay to make icv work you have a permenent live ,no 30 pin in line with that is pin 87 if this is earthed by switch,ie,ignition,it makes pin 87 next in line live then icv works,,so is there a earth which works off the ignition if key is turned to 2nd or 3rd click,hope you can run with this with me ,thanks rick
