Hi guys I was wondering if you could help me.

My e30 has been parked in the garage for the past 6 months. Today I put a new battery in, but my clifford 50x remote fob doesn't not seem to be registering with the car. I know the remote is working because the light on the remote flashes when I press any buttons, but the problem is I can't deactivate the imombiliser or lock/unlock the car with the remote. It's like the car is not recognising the signal or picking up any signal from the remote.

I think it's lost programming.

I'm willing to take the whole alarm out if I HAVE to, but not sure where to start with that.

Please help! I want to take my e30 out for a drive!

You sure the battery isn't faulty??

I've bought NEW batteries before and they were faulty, but had enough charge to light up the LED on the fob.

I've just changed the battery it's fine.

The siren of the alarm is all weird.

I don't have a clue where to start, apart from getting the alarm taken out

Do you have a key for the siren, to turn it off??
Or a "Valet" switch on the dash anywhere?

Does this alarm have it's own back up battery? If so, it sounds like it has failed or discharged.
A similar thing happens with the original genuine BMW E30 alarm.

Yeah I have a key to turn the siren off. But no valet button.

I have turnt the siren off for now, but I've just realised the alarm goes into "panic mode" intermittently. I might open a door and the alarm won't go into "panic mode", and sometimes it does.

Every other electrical seems to be working fine.

So the remedy to that would be to remove the alarm? The led on the dash flashes normally. But the siren has gone strange, and it's non stop which is why I've turned it off. I got the feeling it's packed itself up.

If it's just a discharged rechargeable battery, it may sort itself out, although I must admit, my usual reaction to any Clifford alarm is to remove and bin it.

The LED on the dash will flash in sequence on a Clifford Alarm, to tell you what the problem is.
Do you have the handbook ??

Some good news...

I managed to get into valet mode via the switch on the console.

Just need to work out to get the key functioning again or take the bloody thing out. It's a 15 year old alarm so ideally I will remove it and put a new one in for the long term. But for now I do need to get the remote working.

Managed to find a handbook online, and I thought let me try programming the remote.

And it worked!

Just In case anyone has to go through this in the future....

Put the alarm into valet mode, then go into user program mode, then flock the switch momentary, then latched, take the key out and press the button on the remote. It should be programmed.
