are 323i flywheels different in any way to other m20 ones ?
this one came from a car that had no g/box sensors so would it just be the same as a facelift one and will work with any m20 starter??

the starter that came off the car looks bigger bodywise than later ones :?

this is it anyhoo after some lathe work .

Bear in mind that 323i is Jetronic, so it's different to 325i. You can bolt them up, but these early wheels have a lug for the crank timing and different ring gear, so need a pre-facelift starter.

good stuff 8)

i'll have a read of the link later when i have a bit more time.

i have the starter from the 323i but it's a bit grumbly on turn over but still works no problem .

why is the small spacer necessary that fits between the bolts ? i'm not running one on my m50 so should i be :?

That thin spacer spreads the loading of the bolts. It is required and yeah probably wise to get one on the m50.

Dan will elaborate more.
