m20 flywheel that you should use is part 11221264517 (e30 320i, 323i to 09/1984, e21 320i, 323i, e12 520i, e28 520i) or you can machine off the rear (engine side) of a regular e30 m20 flywheel. Use flywheel bolts 11227805885 (x8), use throw out bearing (30mm vs regualr 25mm) from 323i 21511204525. you don't need a gearbox spacer (assuming g240, g260 not too sure about zf trannys.

You need to have the flywheel machined across the back face to give clearence to the engine casting webs on the back of the block.

Once this is done it's fine (also lighter, Motorhole had a 6kg onto the back of his M52) and requires no spacer, just the shorter bolts from an M20 to bolt up since these are stretch bolts and are only a 1 time use really. We had a 'spacer' which we put behind the flywheel, turned out this is actually the washer plate that goes between the bolt heads and the flywheel like a washer 8O :(

Make sure its the right way round, we didn't and Motorhole's having to rectify that mistake
BMW and Opel, both RWD, both german, both good fun

the flywheels fine on the block the only issue i had was the sump (had to shave the bolt hole tubes down)
at the moment its on with 4 bolts but i dont know what 4 bolts they are from.
i want to get the correct ones

and the engine runs no problem with the flywheel on so i no theres no clearence problems on the back of the flywheel.

thanks
so no gear box spacer (using geartrac 260)
and flywheel bolts 11227805885 bmw number yes?
