Yes it does help push the sound out of the front foot wells a bit more than the standard, you only need to cover a little, as it does go a long way specially if you spend about £40 + for your components.
And as for Sound Deadening, eBay, its all the same thing and does the same job, just search for the right one.
What I would do is check out the spec of the Dynamat and try and find a similar thickness from eBay, will cost you half the price probably and do the same thing.
Unless your really anal about sound then buy the best stuff.

Its near enough the same really, as sound deadening doesn't need an introduction.polsta wrote:where exactly do you put the deadening ? just line the wall behing the speakers ? would it be the same as the floor deadening stuff ? as ive got some spare
The ones used on the floor are thinner, but then again depending on what you have at hand.
Audio sound deadening is shiny on one side and if I'm correct it helps to bounce the waves from behind the speaker forward into the cabin, thus increasing decibels and sound quality, or if you want to call it true speaker sound, as close as.
To be perfectly honest it will work the ones on the floor, but I have a feeling it will just reduce outside noise, which will make the speaker sound louder-ish and clearer.
Basically it will still help, just not as much as the purpose designed stuff. I have done a audio build in my car, the subs are out at the moment and all I'm using is the front components and rear shelf speakers.
And from lining the metal behind the front speakers and a little around the speaker it self did make a difference.
