I am planning to teach my self to weld very soon. Can anyone recommend a good book or some online resources to help me to do this?

Also what is a good entry level welder under 300 pounds anyone could recommend?

I plan to get a bit of practice in before letting myself loose on the E30, but I figured this is a better time than any to learn this vital skill.

Best head over to the mig-welding.co.uk forum. That taught me everything I need to know.

Key things with choosing a welder is the lowest amp rating for car body steel (30A) and your choice of gas supply. Don't even think about using the little disposable gas bottles, or gasless.

try machine mart for the Clarke range, good diy welders at reasonable cost and spares availability. they also have vat free days every now and again.
try your local evening schools for a C&G welding course, much better than reading books and the internet.

As above get yourself a welder from machine mart and go through a few clips on YouTube, practice makes perfect...I'm still leaning had someone show me how it's done and watched a few clips on you tube

As Grrrmnachine says, mig-welding.co.uk is a good forum to look through..

Total BMW did a review on home mig welders last month. They rated this best buy
