As per the title really, i need some really solid engine mounts for an m52b28 conversion.

The car is running m535i mounts at the moment but with the e46 rack conversion there are some clearence issues with the manifolds. Its fine under normal road use but give it some welly and it moves the engine enough to bring it into contact with the steering knuckle.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Tom

Yep, they will fix the problem. Standard engine mounts are way too soft for track driving.

I'm sure you could make some hockey puck mounts if you are tight on funds

I would never advise going totally solid anyway, the high frequency vibration created by an engine can quickly cause fatigue in the mountings and the chassis.

Were there not some mounts for a ford that burton power sold, iirc they were 5mm higher and were a lot cheaper than any other alternatives.

If you can't afford to go poly then making up roll restrictors like the mini used to have using some skateboard truck bushings would be the best choice.

The burton power/ford jobs are what i had on my old car, worked a treat, but that had an m20b25 engine.

The holes for the m52b28 conversion are offset so you have to use m535 mounts with offset bolts/studs, thus rendering the burton power mounts useless unfortunately

That steady bar you've put on is the idea at the mo but down on the engine mount not at the top
