Hi guys - having an on going problem with my cab. Some of you may know that recently I purchased an ECU thinking it would fix the problem because it looked like the ECU had some water in it - anyway it's only running on 1 cylinder...I don't think the ECU is the problem. Can you guys kindly suggest what we should now look for next because we're running out of things to look for. So far we have changed the dizzy cap, crank position sensor / pulse generator, spark plugs and ECU.

Thanks

Ignition leads connected to the new distributor cap in the correct order?
What do the spark plug tips look like?
Compression test may be a good idea.

Hi sorry I couldn't get to the garage today - I'm looking to go tomorrow so I will get the compression numbers and ask about the spark plugs. It's now finally running but still overfilling and running a bit rough. The guy doing the work said it needs a new AFM.

If you think the AFM may be faulty, then TEST it. I would have very little confidence in a mechanic who's idea of fault finding is to swap random bits until it works.

Hi - it's for a 325 thanks. Brian...how do we test the AFM? The guy said when he unplugs it - it seems to run fine and when he plugs it back in...well it just runs like crap.

*And I meant over fuelling

Connect a 6 or 9 volt battery across it, and monitor the output voltage while moving the flap by hand - it's all in the wiki. Don't forget that the inlet air temp sensor is in the AFM housing as well, and also needs checking.

Hi Ben only just saw your message - the mechanic somehow managed to get it running and I took it for a hard drive. The next day it was ticking over perfectly. Because the car has been sitting around for ages with water in the ECU I think the car just seized up.
