Need some advice with central locking.
Once the car is locked I can unlock the drivers side fine with the key. The central locking doesn't work when I do this, also the button on the key is shagged.
Now, once the drivers door is open, I cannot manually lock the door with the key, the key turns in the lock but doesn't lock. I can unlock and lock the passenger door ok and I have to lock the drivers side by going in the passenger door and pressing down the pin.
Number 1: Does this mean there is something wrong with the lock on the drivers side or is this a design feature on central locking models?
Number 2: what would be my plan of attack to diagnose the problems with the central locking system>

The drivers side lock barrel is goosed. You will need a rebuild kit from BMW to strip it and rebuild it.
There is a guide in the wiki on the steps involved.
