my 323i gearbox has a funny looking g/shift mount and i'm led to believe it could be a dogleg box,the shifter knob emblem shows gears in the normal place but this could of been changed .

does anyone have a part number that's embossed on the casing so i can check mine...

edit...it does not have pick up sensors inside the bell housing. :?

Probably the easiest way to find out - does it have a dogleg shift (first is down and to the left, as opposed to up and to the left)?

yes that bracket ,the box is under the car and then under loads of crap or i'd get a pic up .need a part number if anyone's got one.

Easy. The overdrive gearbox is a Getrag 260 and the sport box is a 245, a derivative of the 240. Look at the numbers cast on the housing.

did you figure this out? If the selector shaft is short (approx 4 inches long) then it may well be - if i recall correctly the doglegs were a little longer than the normal getrag
