Just installed my big bore throttle body...
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=236070
Mine is one improved by Byron from the poor original.
Only mod I have made is to cut a little from the gasket between the inlet and t/b to match the increased bore size.Unlike the 325i t/b onto a 320i mod, there is no need to open up the mouth of the inlet,it is way bigger than the t/b!
Engine idles at a steady 650rpm,pre Byron's work on this t/b,idle was 1400rpm.
I've not yet had chance to carry out a road test and fuel consumption check, but I'll update as the cabbie gets some use.
Many thanks,Byron,for your work.

I'd be interested in the figures achieved on an otherwise stock 325.

So 7-8bhp on a well tuned 2.7, is likely to be about 3-4bhp on a standard except exhaust and filter 2.5?

I'd guess very marginal, you'd maybe just notice an improved throttle response.

I've put myself down on his list for this in the group buys section. As Kedge says I doubt it be much of a step up in power. Although I might do a rolling road before and after out of interest..

This.... on a standard engine.Kedge wrote:I'd guess very marginal, you'd maybe just notice an improved throttle response.
You need a cam to release the most out of the throttle body conversion

Only used the cabbie once this week, took it to work last night.
Throttle response is improved, and there seems to be a little more torque at low revs, comes on cam a little earlier.
Too soon to gauge fuel consumption yet,it's only run about 90 miles so far!

Now the cabbie has had two weekend's away,BMWCC event in Wales and our duck losing trip to Scotlandshire this week,I can post up some meaningfull fiqures.
Last summer, the cabbie averaged 30mpg,with the odd tankfull going through at 31mpg.
Over 1500 miles of holiday use, running at 3000rpm as a cruising speed wherever possible,I used 46.65 gallons of standard unleaded, that works out as 32.06mpg.
In addition, there is a distinct extra shove in the back when accelerating hard above 3000rpm.
So I feel that I have achieved my aim of a small reduction in fuel used, with the bonus of better performance as well.

Hi, good to read your results
I've had my BBTB in a week now and i'd agree exactly with your
1. Fuel consumption does seem a little better - i'll be filling up soon so will work the figures out
2. Definately extra throttle response
3. Feels more torquey low down in the revs and at 3000 revs the pick up is instant and more progressive
Overall a well worthwhile conversion
I'll do the BBTB on the M30 next and with the Shrick cam fitted that should respond well.
