18i swaped to 25i starter problem

all ready to start but no starter motor on key,its a 1989 18i auto with 25i manuel prefacelift engine ,on loom at ecu there is another plug does this have to plug in on the auto it did but i would have to change plug and know wiring to do so,i have dash lights but wont crank over ,help

There is a start inhibitor switch from when the car was an auto, to stop it being started in gear. Go behind the glove box and look for 2 black/yellow wires. They will need to be unplugged from the wires they are plugged into (black IIRC) and joined to renew the conection. This will bypass the start inhibitor.

Also check the wiring at the C101 plug on pin 20, if you have got as far as trying to start the car than I think you will be ok. There is a thread about this as a sticky in the engine swap section.

As above.
The two black wires that you are now left with not connected go to a relay on the left side of the glovebox area. These black wires, the relay, and the wires that go off towards the direction of the gear lever can all be removed.
Small socket hanging off the loom near the engine ECU should remain empty, unless you have aircon.
