Electric cars are a dumb idea, I just don't see them as being useful for anything more than popping to the shops. It's not just the range but the charge time. Fuel cells, Hydrogen - maybe. Rechargeable batteries? No way.

This depends entirerly on your intended usage of the car.

Take 'er indoors,for example.
She works as a mobile care worker,all her custumers are within the city and avarage daily mileage is 38 miles.Car would be sat overnight,so could re-charge on Economy 7.
Just the job for her,anyone care to lend me one for a long term trial?

They are ideal for stop-start delivery type work, which is why electric milk floats were used for donkeys years.

There are some companies offering really good offers to trial them smart and Nissan leaf are 2 examples
