Lovely looking car!
Your thoughts on price.. has it finally reached the time when it rockets up?

It's a lovely shell but has visible rust. It's got BK reps, and the LSD needs a rebuild. Lots of talk about leather gaiters and the stereo; zero info on service history, cambelt changes, and it doesn't even have an MOT. Therefore, it's just a 325i with a body kit.

Its still a sport so even if its rotten and abused and has a stereo fitted with scotchlocks i would still pay over the odds for it isnt it.

ditto people need to get it into their heads that sports are most in demand, always have been. Always will.
They were most desired when new and nearly new. Its always been the one "to have"

People who hate on Sports just seem butthurt that they are valuable. Not sure why, like any special edition of a car they maintain a value over base models.
Give me a nice chromie over a sport any day now, but there's no point bitching about it constantly like several zoners do.

So what e30 for sale doesn't have rust or issues to sort, pretty much every e30 for sale these days has visible rust and rear arch and multiple issues, making the "sports have rust" thing a bit old hat and tiresome nowGrrrmachine wrote:It's a lovely shell but has visible rust. I think the Wiki info/Sport hate ratio is more like 9:1.SteSE wrote:Every other post of yours seems to be about sport hate!
My beef about sports is the same about Nike sweatshirts and iPods. It's the same cheap mass produced product, but with a special logo on it that somehow boosts the value 500%.
It's worse in Tech Help where people talk about fitting Sport engines as if those five letters have boosted the horsepower by 30%
In the case of Sports I won't deny that 25 years ago they were much better than the average 325i. But after this long when there's rust everywhere and all the special sports parts are knackered (the whiny diff on this one is the case in point) then I don't see the value in them at all.
In this case you've got a particularly un-loved example which has been tarted up with cheap paint and cheaper wheels, and people think it's worth at least 2 bags. That's self-deception to an extreme.

It's a tech 2, as desirable as rampant bum aids

Why is it ? when rusty big standard 2 door 316 and 318 have 1-2k asking prices all over the place , and the fact you simply do not get any sport for under 2k these days or very rare/lucky, and you can break one for 2k probably , when a tech 2 kit fetch 500 and bk reps in nice enough nick fetch same as bbs, and 500 plus for a whole sport interior, 300 engine, few ton an LSD, etc etc... 2k is an absolute minimum starting price, factGrrrmachine wrote:SteSE wrote:cheaper wheels, and people think it's worth at least 2 bags. holy cr@p not this again! i think i might just kill myself (in my sport).
your average joe is always going to pay more for a sport as it had more bits from factory....THIS IS NEVER GOING TO CHANGE....EVER!!!!! be it right or wrong, they sell for more. wheter tom, dick or harry would prefer a chromie etc is irrelevant.
are they better? dunno, are they worth it? dunno. at it's best, a sport is only a £5k car anyway and if it is a good one, is great value. i dont think anyone is getting rinsed paying £5k for a car when they could have had an SE for £3k.
i don't know why i'm even writing this, i rise to the bait about once a year, so i'm done

Why argue though when we all could go out and buy a 'baby' M3 which is better in every way (apparently)

To be fair, yes. Close ratio box, slipper and M-tech suspension all make it faster cross country.Jim320i wrote:Is the Sport faster?

The seller could have at least wiped the mildew off the leather handbrake handle first!
