Have a read through this and tell us what value it gives:

But I fear in its present condition you might as well sell it for scrap value. A rusty cabrio is a serious money pit.

If its stood for that long you would really need to give it a major service and get an MOT to stand a chance of selling it complete for any considerable money.

Breaking it may give you a better return but only if the parts worth good money are rot free and in good condition.

Going on the roof been fecked, rot in the doors, lack of a tech 1 or 2 tech. You might be able to sell the interior and some other panels but I wouldn't say there will be much of value to it.

the two pictures of rust are all there is on the car and the roof was replaced at cost of 300 quid. so would you think i could get 700 quid complete or sell the roof for 300 and then break

I thought the roof was slashed?

A complete roof with good seals and a good rear screen is worth £300. The seals are very expensive from BMW so if there shot that knocks a good bit of value from the roof.

The cab specific parts that have a value is the interior and the front wings. Going on the pictures if thats your wings they look shot as well.

Selling the car complete via an ebay auction would be the best bet and put a reserve on it.

It certainly needs a fair bit of work, but it would be a pity to loose yet another relatively rare facelift cab. The pre-post facelift changeover was much later for cabs. than for saloons, so a lot of them on the road are blighted by pre facelift bodywork featuring those horrible metal bumpers.

The wings are worth between £50 and £100 a side if rot free and good paint. They are getting hard to come by.

If the roof is electric and if it all works, motors etc they have a decent bit of value on their own.

Option 1:
break it, you need to be prepared to strip everything, clean it up and take lots of pictures, list them on here or ebay with prices and be wiling to arrange couriers for the bits.

There are plenty of breakers on here that will attest to how time consuming it is to deal with listing everything, getting asked silly questions and whats your lowest price constantly.

Option 2
spend a few hundred on the engine to service it fully, several hundred on sorting out the rotting rear arch, a new door, get it painted, better wheels, MOT and punt it as a complete car.

Option 3
Sell it as it is for as much as you can (ebay auction)

Option 4
Sell the roof, interior, wings and scrap the rest.
