Doing front wheel bearing, all done apart from my torque wrench oly goes to 180. Poped to the garage down the road and they dont have one that goes to 210 either.

Anyone know any places in poole to rent one or something like that otherwise i shall have to buy one

Are there any alternative torque settings provided anywhere, which state an initial lower torque followed by an angle?

Will this not put the bearing under to much presure or to little in both cases causing fires/fails?

My old Williams talking wrench only goes up to 100ft lb,so I torque to that and then another heave,I have not had a front wheel fall off...yet.. :D

210ft lb is on the level off bloody tight!

Front crank bolt should be 400ft lb,I think,I torqued to 100 ft lb,waited until the engine was in the car and re-tightened until the clutch slipped, that is about 275 ft lb,and that bolt is still tight.

Whilst the exact torque is desirable, common sense should prevail.

210 lb.ft. What do you weigh? 70lbs? Put all your weight on a 3 foot long horizontal bar. Weigh 105lbs? Put all your weight on a 2 foot horizontal bar.

168lbs :o: im only little too but got a bit of a beer belly (dont even drink much apart from a jd and rum on the odd night)

Good news is its tight all my weight on a 2 ft bar

bad news is i have some play in the bushes at the back of the front wishbone and was checking on the wheels the play with hands top to bottom and spun the wheel to do left to right, me being the accident prone bugger i am had my finger in the wheel (i have msw wheels like standard bbs) and crushed it between the wheel and the caliper :(
