Happy New Year FOlks!!!

Hope you can help me with the following. I bought adam318i's H reg E30, well chuffed with it. Took it to wales last week (got back yesterday) and whilst away, it got well and truly frozen. At some stage it may have frozen while the aerial was up, because it no longer retracts when the radio/car switched off. Also, around the same time, I have had a flat battery first thing in the morning, I am guessing the two are related, but can anyone shed any light please? I have checked the fuse, and it is ok, and I have now disconnected the aerial in case it is that draining the battery, but befrore I buy and fit a new aerial I thought I would ask you chaps.

Cheers!

If the motor is continually trying to retract the aerial you should be able to hear this clearly - I cant think of anything else obvious that would cause the battery to drain, it sounds like a dead aerial motor or water has got in causing the failure.

No sound coming from the aerial at all. Dont know what is causing the battery to drain if not that, only seems to happen overnight so far. I have disconnected the aerial so will see in the morning.

Thanks for the reply so far!!

My aerial bit the dust a while back, the motor would'nt stop winding once it had started. I took the whole thing apart and think it was down to a internal switch or relay that stopped working but either way not worth messing about with when you can get one from Swedish and German for about 30 sheets.

Bazman

German Swedish and French(GSF) are a parts supplier for BMW and other European spares.
There is one in Stonehouse(PL1 3QT) and there number is 01752 600610.

Hope this helps :)

Alternatively, Euro car parts do a chrome or black version for about the same money.
