Although i have started a thread regarding a Midlands meet, i thought i ask if actually this is something that is wanted.

For it to work its gonna need support and commitment, and with this in mind can anybody be actually bothered, judging by the replies so far in the thread its doesn't look like it.......

So lets have your opinions guys.......

Regular meet would be nice but my life is very hectic and I cant commit to showing up at every one, I would like to show up every now and again but I rarely get the time TBH, there always seems to be something more important to do :?

very true Dan, life indeed get in the way, mind you are somewhat different to most as your very upfront with whether or not you goona be able to attend, so if you don't nobodies been let down.

its the " oh yeah i'm deffo coming" types who put names down, then on the day of the meet cry off/don't turn up that spoil it for the others, especially if money has been spent up front on the meet first and the rest are then expected to pay for their shortfall........

We all understand of course legitimate reasons.

I don't mind the odd meet but for me it's a 300 mile round trip to the link Matt showed :( and I'm not sure if my rusty welded up shitters would make it.

I also work 2 Sundays a month so time restraints play a part in my absence.

I'm up for a few more meets. Location is the main thing though, needs to be just off the M1 somewhere for the midlands, if its further afield and I have to come off the motor way then spend 30 minutes driving to the place and another 20 minutes finding it, I just cant be bothered.

Numbers are the other thing too... The last Cavery meet we had, I think 5 of us turned up, 3 of which drove in together from the same area, 1 not in an e30 and then a total stranger who drove for 2 hours to get there... I dount he'll be making the effort again.

The numbers that actually showed up at the meets I had at my old ranch started to dwindle too, and the amount that said yeah, then didnt show up doesnt help.

But... Im up for it...

Kieran, Rob, fully understand work and other commitments come first, unlike most thou, if either of you said you were gonna come to a meet then you would!!!

It would have to be something important for you not to turn up, in Kierans case of course if he could be bothered to run better cars other than his old shit*ers he might actually be able to complete the journey..... :D

Its amazing how some would drive hundreds of miles to a meet, and those that live a stones throw away can't be arsed.....

I don't mind the odd ride out, the sport covered just over 100 miles last year and I've just had a new clutch in it so a good run out will do it good.

How about Saturdays ?

I've got the same problem as Rob and Kieran, work a lot of weekends (days & nights). But then if I put my name down I do show up!

A meet every couple of months might work but its a long time since I went to a meet with a decent turnout and even a 1/4 that put their name down actually made it!

Hear what you say with that but Milton Keynes is not really central to the midlands, doubt people from say Notts etc would travel that far for a meet?

Needs to be centralish.

Meets should be help around a few different locations imo.
But the issue is as above, how many can attend or bother, if for them , it's a journey totalling 1hr travelling there, £30 in fuel and having a handful turn out.

That's it... You just slowly build your numbers, too often and people will think, 'I'll go to the next one', not often even, people would have made plans elsewhere.

I'm gutted I can't do the camp over at mine at the moment but fingers crossed the next place will be suitable as even if a handful turn up, it's always a giggle

Might be relocating to Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire but regardless of where we end up next, we'll still be doing the camp overs :D

I would say we could have one at where we are now but I dont really want to confuse people with different locations everytime

We're not there anymore dude!

We moved before christmas to Nailstone which is near Ibstock. Great location with a nice big paddock but unfortunately, we're having to move in a couple of months due to the agent were letting through telling us it was long term when in fact the landlady only wanted short term and is selling it up, and I dont have that much money to buy it!

I am waiting to hear back from a place over towards Notts, just off the A46. 7 Arces or so, which will be ideal :D

What areas do you class as "midlands" I don't mind going a little further out for meets if its like the ones I've been to at jim's as you get to have a small amount to drink winkeye and not worry about the drive home!
But if I'm going to drive 70 miles or more for 5 People i don't know that well and some very awkward silences then no alcohol always helps.
The breakfast club at Cosford had a good turn out and with a bit of organisation the club can all park together there's about 8 meets in a year well spread out.

Jim, seems like people want to moan about nothing being on but when options/ideas are put forward everyone goes quiet or can't be arsed.
