Evening all,
Last week someone broke into my house, took a load of my stuff including my car (not the E30).
Seems likely that the car was targeted as it was a 6 month old A3 Black edition.
On the keyring was my spare Beemer key, fortunately the car is kept elsewhere currently.
However I have just had it MOT'd and taxed etc and was planning on bringing it home.
How effective s the immobiliser on the OBC and do you thing that plus a steering wheel/crooklock type of thing will be enough to keep her safe?
I don't keep valuables in the car, stereo is removed everynight etc...
Or should I stop being a tight fisted yorkshire bugger and get the locks changed?

I wouldn't have thought so mate. E30s aint the very best at safety or prevention of stealing. Your best bet is to get a new lock set with keys from here. If theres a bmw key with the audi key, the w4nker theif will figure out it belongs to the e30 now parked in the drive and will probably wreck it trying to nick it, what with the added safety feature you were gonna use
Get a new lock set n keys, i wouldn't risk it

NO immobiliser is more than a slight delaying tactic on any E30, unless it's been fitted with an EWS II engine, and the lack of a key is only a minor inconvenience to anyone who knows what they're doing and wishes to steal it.

cctv is cheap enough nowadays
you could get a pair or more of wireless ones and using batteries put one in the car set to motion detect and set the alarm for that camera or you can get it to text you when it's set off .

TBH, you really don't need a key to get into an E30. After that....
I suggest you follow Brian's advice

Basically fit a hidden, or obvious and unlabelled OE switch between the green/purple fuel pump wire under the glovebox area and earth.
If an attempt is made to start the car with the switch still on, fuse 11 will blow.
If they realise that the pump is the problem, and run a parallel feed to the pump at the plug and socket under the rear seat cushion, the short will still be present, and their 'hot' wire really will get hot and melt.
I've posted on this several times and the 'search' function will bring it all up.

A personage of your talent and skills will surely have no problems...e30topless wrote:for fooks sake a four door ? i hate fitting locks on them it's a fiddly job for fat fingers !!
Just so you know the central locking is in 'ahem' perfect working order too , I'd expect it to be the same when I collect...

Just leave a note stuck to the gauge cluster every night saying "Remember to re-fit brakes & tighten wheel nuts!!!". That might make them think twice about driving away!
put pacerpete asleep on the backseat/in boot, as they go to steal it he jumps out..."no look, is this the sort of e30 you really want to be stealing, 1- its a quattroporte, 2- , 3. etcgaszman wrote:buy a big dog dont feed it keep it in the e30 overnight and hope

I wouldn't worry about it, if they are in the market of stealing £30k Audis it is highly unlikely that they will bother with a 4 door e30.
Not worth the hassle.
