Has anyone got their cleaned? mine is looking really grubby and full of dust. I’ve seen it being done at the car washes where they cover up some bits with plastic bags spray some sort of detergents on it and hit it with the jet wash.
Well Im not sure they know what tey are doing.....Im I better off going at it with a tooth brush?

I have cleaned loads of engines with the above method. Spray TFR all over, let it settle in, cover the sensitive bits and spray down making sure you don't jet wash the electrics etc. Once done, close the bonnet but don't latch it, start the car up and leave it to dry out/steam itself clean.

I've just attempted to shift 23 years of dirt etc from my engine bay.
First it was gunk'd, and scrubbed to get the oily deposits off. Then I removed all the ancillaries from the sides of the engine bay and then brought the paint back up with t cut. All plastics were treated with autoglym plastic snot and it was done.
Screen wash bottle was blasted by a pressure gun full of TFR and it got the dirt out of it.
Problem now is that the intake manifold and rocker cover need painted as they stand out a mile.
I did try with TFR first, as above, but it didn't shift the heavy oily stuff.

i used autogym engine cleaner spray, cover any vital electric bits, spray the stuff over and work in heavy areas with a brush/toothbrush if needed and then gentle rinse with a hose, gave brilliant results and very easy , no need to jet wash as it all just rinses easily with gentle water, thus no power jet meddlig with anything or forcing in anywhere
