I'm considering an Alpina Gear knob for the tech 1.
It's non oem-ness annoys me & the great big Alpina emblem would have to go.
I think the original emblem is a lot smaller in comparison. So swapping over wouldn't be an option.
Thoughts?

My own one isn't so bad. Slight break at the bottom but where it sit's you can't see it.
& emblem faded but that can be replaced.
I haven't seen many come up, closest, most recent one was an e28 mushroom knob from a m535. So had a dogleg gear box emblem.

Is the top perfect ? That's the most common thing they wear through around the top, the emblems can be replaced you should if hit that dogleg one
I wonder with yours - could the leather be un stitched and it put over one of the plastic mushroom ones to rectify the broken shaft ?

I wouldn't describe it as perfect but its in a reasonable condition. No visible wear, other than the slight break in the leather and emblem fading. If the emblem was replaced I'd probably be happy enough.
The e28 one went for over £100+ on ebay. Then to source another emblem,
It wasn't for me.

To keep her off guard? Sly man
No haven't had my eye on one for a while now Polsta. Just been sorting out recaro bits and I was playing with the idea of sourcing an Alpina gear knob as well but I was conflicted. I wanted to touch nice hard wood but I know its wrong. O behavepolsta wrote:So was this thread in regard to the one that was on eBay at £36 earlier and finished for just over a ton ? here you go mate both together, the new one is fantastic not even any light scratches, almost too good to use, cant be many like that about, the other one il get re finished and need a new emblem for it as its cracked, but picked it up for penuts although being bare wood and no traces of laquer it looks quite good as it isjimbom30cab wrote:Polsta, have you got some pics of your new knob?
