Hi guys,
Am hoping one of you might be able to help as usual.
After long motorway journeys coming into slower traffic I've noticed my wheels (might be my bearings but am guessing) feel a little stiff when I pull away after stopping. That combined with the slight scuffing noise is almost as if my handbrake was left on or something but its not.
Can anyone diagnose what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Cheers,
Nick

On another note has anyone noticed how few e30s are for sale these days and most seem to be going from £4/5k?!

I would look, first,at the brake caliper.E30 uses a single piston sliding caliper arrangement, and it's not unknown for the sliding part to be reluctant to slide.
Dismantle, clean and lubricate with a little copper grease.

Thanks! My car will probably be used every weekend only till the end of May when it will stay on the driveway till I can afford a full overhaul. Hopefully it can last as is till then...daimlerman wrote:I would look, first,at the brake caliper.E30 uses a single piston sliding caliper arrangement, and it's not unknown for the sliding part to be reluctant to slide.

The asking prices on Pistonheads seems to be full of dreamers. There is less cars advertised for sale but of the few that are, even less seem to be bought.

Perhaps the same with Autotrader - littered with e36 and e46 3 series but couldn't find many e30s.

Its the advertising costs putting off people with cheap E30's. And the ones that do pay to advertise fall into the trap of looking at other peoples asking prices.

They still are, except in the mind of the seller .........Rtaylor2208 wrote:Its the advertising costs putting off people with cheap E30's. And the ones that do pay to advertise fall into the trap of looking at other peoples asking prices.

Very true Pete to those who know anything about E30's, but as you know there are many victims out there that have never owned one and pay over the odds for a shiny turd.
