Im about to give it a whirl. I doubt anyones been this stupid bar a few so lets see what results I get....Im following a rough guide off R3V written by a Pole.

http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthr ... 454&page=4

Alright, so iv been fannying around in my room now for an hour with a claw hammer ( no grim jokes )

and so far iv managed to draw blood and get multi coloured plastic all over the room. I have however got the first part of the first light where i need it to be.

The idea is to take 2 sets of lights to make one set. You need to smash the front off one set, then smash the back off another. Tint and paint, then glue back together again

here are my lights, a hammer, smoke spray, a pair of grips/pliars and some matte black paint
Both sets arnt great but iv picked the worst faced ones to sacrifice and kept the better ones to use the coloured facing off.
Image

The only way to do this is to smash the front off one set and then get the back cut off another....so I made friends with the hammer and got to it.
Image

I decided after a while to put sunglasses on as bits fly EVERYWHERE. This is a piece on my decks about 8 feet away.
Image

You need to hit the lens surprisingly hard to actually get it to break in or cave, the best thing to do is hit it with the claw end til you get a hole, then use the grips to break the rest out.
Image

You will eventually end up like this. DO NOT break the section next to the reverse lights because. This part is double skinned...the lens goes over a red reflector and you do NOT want to break the reflector... this is a mixture between finess and brutality, you need to gently hammer the outter lens to smash it but not hit too hard and smash the reflector.

Image

You can see by my carpet this is one for the garage or out doors.

Image

You will end up with this

Now to do the same to the other side....After i hoover my fucking room out.

I still don't see what you're trying to do, or how you're going to do it.

the proper lights actually have the plastic moulded in a different colour, i can't see how you're going to get anything like the same effect with diy methods :?
cheers,

Dremel is a good shout magpie, but im rather c0ck handed with anything mildly power toolish, I will use the dremel to finish off the edging before i glue em together

The basic plan. - remove the front of one light, remove the back of another...paint certain parts black, tint the in or outside of the lens, and glue the pair together

Sounds good Daimlerman, depending if i arse these up or anybody wants to buy a set depending on results il know where to come!
Il probably split the other outside tomorrow as I really dont want to do another one in my bedroom...theres plastic EVERYWHERE. Lucky im single.
