All of these things in the new regs. are followed by the words "if fitted", so don't worry.
There are actually some relaxations of the regs. that will be of more interest to some E30 owners.

In very simple terms,if the equipment(such as an electronic handbrake)is not fitted, then it cannot be tested, can it?

so does this mean if something isnt fitted anymore it can't be tested?like rear seatblets.or what if it wasn't fitted at the factory but is now like HID kits or newer engines that came with cats but are fitted without catsdaimlerman wrote:In very simple terms,if the equipment(such as an electronic handbrake)is not fitted, then it cannot be tested, can it?

the dash board warning lights is a grey area, the mot guy failed mine on the brake light sensor being on even though it was due to the sensor not being fitted, the brakes were new. i did explain this but he was determined it was a fail?!

^^No grey area - just the tester not understanding the written word.
The brake fluid warning lamp illuminated is a fail, not the pad wear sensor lamp.
The testers manual even advises the tester that the brake fluid lamp may be combined with pad wear or parking brake "on" warning lamp.
Relaxations include the ABS warning lamp sequence.

i thought he was being a awkward, but i wanted to sort out the sensor anyway so i did.
it was a halfords test center though, he was so worried about the brake sensor light, he didn't even realise the horn didn't work
